John Woo, bad-ass movie director of Face/Off and Mission: Impossible 2, has directed the highest grossing film in Chinese box office history. It even says so on the poster.
The only problem is... it was a long time ago
Red Cliff will finally be coming to the U.S., however, on November 20, 2009. The original cut was close to 4 hours total and released as two film (similar to Tarantino's Kill Bill). The U.S. cut will be one film trimmed down to 2.5 hours.
The movie is a re-telling of the battle of Red Cliff during ancient China's Han dynasty.
