Shawn Levy to direct Real Steel

Reuters is reporting that Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum 1 & 2) has signed on to Dreamworks' Real Steel. If you haven't figured out what Real Steel is based on the picture above... it's about the robot boxing board game. Yes, really.

What the flip Kip? Seriously though. Yesterday we told you about Peter Berg's Battleship, yes... THAT Battleship. How far are studios going to go? I don't understand how hard it is to come up with new material. I've been online researching the news and came up with a pretty solid consensus... Shawn Levy will ruin this movie. The idea has been around for a while. Here is the premise: in the not too distant future, human boxing is outlawed. So robot boxing is created to satisfy human's thirst for blood... bada bing, we've got robot boxing.

The problem lies with the type of movies Levy has made. Night at the Museum is great and everything (not really), but this type of movie needs action and adventure. Cheaper by the Dozen, The Pink Panther, and Just Married are not exactly action adventure type of films. We'll be patient and hope for the best, what do you think?
