"The Conspirator" will be about Mary Surrat, an accomplice of John Wilkes Booth, Lincoln's assassin. She was the first female to be executed by the U.S. Government. The script was written by James Solomon, and is probably influenced by the book "The Assassin’s Accomplice: Mary Surratt and the Plot to Kill Abraham Lincoln" by Kate Clifford.
There's no word yet on who will play the leading role, but James McAvoy ("Atonement," "Wanted") is in talks to be the lead male possibly as John Surrat, Mary's son, who had his own plot to kidnap Lincoln. It's funny to see how the financing for this film will work out for Redford, seeing as how Steven Speilberg is still having trouble with his own Lincoln flick, and Redford's last directorial outing, "Lions for Lambs," didn't do so well at the box office. Stay tuned in for more on these two later!
